Hyderabad officials collected over ₹5 lakh in fines during overnight checks for vehicle, mining, and PDS rice violations across the city
Vigilance and Enforcement Department Conducts Overnight Checks
Officials from the Vigilance and Enforcement Department conducted checks on the night of January 6 and 7.
During these checks, over ₹5 lakh was collected near Gandi Maisamma on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Balanagar X Road, and surrounding areas.
Details of the Enforcement Drive
The Hyderabad City-1 unit, along with officials from the Motor Vehicles Department, Mines Department, and Commercial Taxes Department, carried out the checks between 11 p.m. on January 6 and 4 a.m. on January 7.
During this enforcement drive, 11 cases were registered under the Motor Vehicles Act for violations related to overloading, licenses, permits, and tax compliance. Vehicles involved in these violations were seized, and fines totaling ₹4.37 lakh were imposed. Additionally, five cases were booked under the Mining Act for illegal sand transportation, with fines of approximately ₹63,705.
Operations Across Telangana
The Vigilance and Enforcement officials also conducted multiple operations across Telangana. They seized a large quantity of illegally stocked Public Distribution System rice and registered several cases during the overnight route checks to curb revenue leakage and misuse of public resources.
Surprise Raid in Nirmal Mandal
The Karimnagar unit conducted a surprise raid on a closed rice mill named Lakshmi Narasimha Modern Rice Mill near Chityal village in Nirmal mandal during the night of January 6 and 7. Officials seized 160 quintals of illegally stored PDS rice, valued at approximately ₹4.80 lakh. The seized stock was handed over to the Nirmal district Civil Supplies officials for further action.
