Hyderabad expects 12 lakh vehicles during Sankranti, with toll gates, ambulances, and cranes deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety
Traffic Expectations for Festive Season in Hyderabad
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that nearly 12 lakh vehicles are expected to leave Hyderabad during the festive season. This is a significant increase from the 9 lakh vehicles recorded last year.
The minister stated that officials must open toll gates immediately when traffic congestion occurs. This is especially important at the Pantangi toll plaza, which often sees heavy traffic during peak festive hours. He mentioned that arrangements are being closely monitored to prevent long queues and delays.
Minister Reddy is personally overseeing the Sankranti traffic arrangements. He added that coordination with the Director General of Police has ensured enough personnel are deployed for traffic regulation and security along key routes.
For emergency preparedness, ambulances are stationed every 20 kilometers on major highways. Cranes have also been deployed to quickly remove stalled or broken-down vehicles to avoid bottlenecks. A toll-free helpline has been set up to assist travelers during the festive rush.
The minister stated that the State government will manage traffic and safety measures up to the Telangana border. He urged motorists to follow traffic advisories for a smooth and safe Sankranti journey.
