New Delhi: A 27-year-old man died and his 30-year-old friend was injured early Sunday after their scooter was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle on Wazirpur flyover. The impact caused the man to fall off the flyover onto the Ring Road.

According to police, Saurabh Bhadua, a resident of Kirti Nagar, and Priyanka were riding a two-wheeler when an unknown vehicle hit them on the flyover. The crash was severe enough for Bhadua to fall off the flyway, police reported.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh stated that the Netaji Subhash Place police station received a call about the accident. Upon arrival, police found a damaged scooter and an injured woman nearby.
“It was then learned that a man riding the scooter fell through the space between the two carriageways of the flyover. Our personnel reached the Ring Road underneath and found the injured man unconscious and bleeding. He was rushed to Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital, where doctors declared him dead,” the ACP said.
Police reported that the injured woman, Priyanka, was admitted to Deep Chand Hospital and later referred to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. She was discharged after medical attention on Monday evening.
“The woman is not completely fit to record her statement. She told us she was returning home from Rohini with her friend Saurabh when an unknown vehicle hit them,” a senior officer said.
ACP Singh confirmed that a case of rash and negligent driving causing death and injury was registered at the Netaji Subhash Place police station. CCTV cameras are being reviewed to identify the vehicle involved.
