Three Young Men Die in Sonepat Accident
Three young men from Delhi lost their lives after their scooter hit a truck from behind on the highway in Sonepat, police said on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Deepak Kohli, 21, Parteek Kumar alias Tushar, 21, and Mayank Sharma, 19. They were heading to a dhaba in Murthal for a party because one of them had purchased an iPhone, according to police and a relative.
Details of the Accident
The accident occurred near TDI City on Monday evening when the truck allegedly applied its brakes suddenly. The three men were not wearing helmets, which contributed to their deaths, police reported. The deceased lived in the same lane in Krishan Vihar, Delhi. Deepak was a daily wager, while the others were college students, their relatives said.
Investigation and Response
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sushil Kumar, the investigating officer, stated that by the time police teams arrived, passersby had already taken the three men to Sonepat civil hospital, where they were declared dead. An FIR was registered against the unknown truck driver, and the bodies were handed over to the families after autopsies. The ASI noted that a search was ongoing for the absconding driver of the Faridabad-registered vehicle.
Family Reactions
Mayank’s relative, Ajay Kumar, said the police informed them about the accident. The families traveled to Sonepat that night. They learned that Deepak had bought an iPhone, and they were going to a Murthal dhaba for a party when the accident occurred.
