APTDC Chairman Announces Name Change and Tourism Developments

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) Chairman N. Balaji announced on Thursday that the name of ‘Haritha Hotels’ operated by the Tourism Department across the State has been changed to ‘Haritha Punnami’.

After attending the APTDC Board meeting, Mr. Balaji stated that signboards with the new name would be set up at all 67 properties across the State.

He also mentioned that MoUs worth around ₹19,000 crore were signed for the development of the tourism sector in the State.

Employee Welfare and Salary Increments

Mr. Balaji discussed employee welfare during the board meeting. It was decided to give promotions to all regular and contract employees as per eligibility. Outsourcing employees will receive a salary increment of ₹2,000 every six years. Contract employees, who are not eligible for promotions, will also get a salary hike of ₹2,000. Additionally, accident insurance coverage for all employees has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.

Tourism Projects and Infrastructure Development

Regarding tourism projects, he stated that works at Gandikota and Simhachalam would be funded with ₹450 crore allocated by the Central government. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch houseboats and floating boats as part of the ongoing ‘Amaravati Avakaya Festival’ at Haritha Berm Park.

Mr. Balaji mentioned that efforts to obtain international ‘Blue Flag’ certification for Suryalanka beach have intensified. Measures are also being taken for the development of the Srisailam-Tripurantakam temple circuit. Officials have been asked to prepare DPRs for tourism development in Vanjangi, Araku, Donakonda, and Paderu regions.

He emphasized the focus on infrastructure development. CCTV cameras, WiFi, and intercom facilities are being set up in all APTDC hotels. A multi-purpose office building at Berm Park and additional rooms at Lepakshi will also be constructed.

To ensure quality, a third-party quality control check on engineering works undertaken over the past six and a half years will be conducted by teams from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and Acharya Nagarjuna University.
