A Bengaluru techie has been arrested after his wife accused him of cheating, caste-based abuse, and repeated physical violence. The man, identified as Jedrella Jacob Aroop, was arrested while with his alleged lover at a PG accommodation in Electronic City.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by his wife. She stated that she had given up a senior, well-paying job to support him during his unemployment. The woman also helped him find work, according to the complaint.
The relationship reportedly deteriorated after the birth of their child. The wife alleged that her husband began verbally abusing her with caste slurs and subjected her to repeated physical assaults. The complaint also claims that the violence led to a miscarriage.
Police have registered cases under provisions related to atrocities and assault. Acting on information from the woman, a police team traced the accused to his alleged lover’s residence and arrested him on the spot.
