Threats Made Against Courts in Andhra Pradesh

On Thursday, January 8, 2026, miscreants threatened to blast three courts in Andhra Pradesh. Police did not find any explosive material in the courts.

Details of the Threat

The accused sent emails to judges claiming that bombs were planted in Eluru, Ananthapur, and Madanapalli courts. This created panic among the public. The emails threatened that the bombs could explode at any time.

Police Response

“We searched thoroughly the court premises. However, bombs or explosive material were not found so far. Investigation is ongoing and there is no need to panic,” said Eluru district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore to The Hindu.

Search Operations

Upon receiving the information, the Bomb Detection (BD) and sniffer dog squads conducted checks after evacuating the court buildings. Searches were still ongoing when the last reports came in.

Precautionary Measures

“All the staff, judges, advocates, petitioners, and other public were sent out of the court premises as a precautionary measure. We are searching the offices, court hall, waiting halls, and other facilities in the courts,” said a BD team officer.

Investigation into the Email

Meanwhile, the Cybercrime police are working to trace the sender of the emails. “We are trying to identify the email address, IP address, and location from which the emails were sent to the judges,” Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore stated.
