Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the Yamuna clean-up is now a people’s movement during her inspection at Chhath Ghat.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected the Yamuna River clean-up drive at the Chhath Ghat near ITO on Sunday. She stated that the cleanliness of the Yamuna has transformed from a government program into a people’s movement. Gupta noted the significant voluntary participation of many individuals in the cleanliness campaign, even on a Sunday, which shows increasing public awareness and commitment to the cause.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi Government will provide all possible support for initiatives that encourage public participation in environmental protection. She stated, “Keeping the Yamuna clean, pure, and free-flowing is not only the responsibility of the government, but a collective moral responsibility of all of us towards future generations.” Gupta mentioned that the Delhi Government is conducting the Yamuna clean-up campaign in a phased, scientific, and well-planned manner. Continuous efforts are being made for the rejuvenation of the Yamuna through improved waste management, sewage treatment, and monitoring systems.
Gupta appealed to citizens to maintain awareness, discipline, and participation for the conservation and cleanliness of the Yamuna. She concluded that a clean Yamuna will symbolize a clean Delhi.
