ACB Files Case Against Police Constable for Bribery

This was in exchange for assistance in a non-cognisable (NC) offence registered at Saswad Police Station. The ACB reported that the complainant runs a vegetable vending business in Saswad. A non-cognisable offence had been registered against him and his father at Saswad Police Station. Omase allegedly demanded money to avoid further action and to “help” the complainant in the case.
Initially, Omase asked for a bribe of ₹3,000. The complainant then approached the ACB on December 24 and filed a complaint. After this, the ACB conducted a verification on January 3, 2026. During this verification, Omase allegedly increased the demand to ₹10,000. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reportedly settled at ₹5,000.
Based on the verification, the ACB set up a trap near Saswad Police Station. However, when the complainant arrived to give the money, Omase became suspicious. He took the complainant into a room and asked him to remove his clothes. Therefore, the trap could not be executed.
Despite the failed trap, the ACB confirmed that the demand for a bribe was clearly established during verification. Omase was detained, and a case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The action was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional Superintendent Ajit Patil, and Arjun Bhosale. Inspector Asavari Shedge is conducting the investigation.
