During interrogation, the accused, Gyaneshwar Chavhan, revealed that Saroj had an outstanding loan of ₹2.5 lakh.

Officers stated that Guddu Saroj was kidnapped from Delhi’s Azadpur wholesale market. At least three locals from Maharashtra were involved due to a financial dispute.

Police arrested Gyaneshwar Chavhan at the location where Saroj was rescued. Additional Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh reported that on December 27, the Adarsh Nagar police station received a call. The caller claimed that some people forcibly pulled a man into their car near Azadpur Mandi and fled.

When police arrived, they spoke to the caller, who claimed to be a passerby but could not provide more details. Police then reviewed CCTV footage from the area.

Two days later, Priyanshu Shukla filed a complaint about the kidnapping of his friend, Saroj, who owned a shop in Azadpur Mandi. Shukla alleged that a kidnapper named Rajaram was demanding ₹2.5 lakh for Saroj’s release. A case of kidnapping for ransom was registered.

“Through technical surveillance, police traced the location of the victim and the kidnappers to a remote area in Jalna district. A raiding team safely rescued Saroj and arrested Gyaneshwar Chavhan,” Singh said. He added that several locals attempted to obstruct the police during the operation.

During interrogation, Chavhan identified his brother Rajaram and their associate Somnath Udadange, who arranged and drove the vehicle used in the crime.
