Fire Incident Details

The bodies were sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital for post-mortem. A firefighter named Rakesh was injured and also taken to the same hospital.
Investigation Findings
The police officer stated that initial investigations suggest a heater in the bedroom may have caused the fire. Asphyxiation may have been the main cause of death, as there were no signs of struggle on the bed. The officer noted that the bedroom and drawing room of the 1-BHK flat were destroyed in the fire.
Background Information
Ajay, originally from Uttar Pradesh, began working with DMRC in 2006 and moved to the Mukundpur flat in 2016. A DMRC spokesperson mentioned that the fire was first noticed when neighbors heard a glass cracking sound around 2:30 a.m. Smoke was seen coming from Ajay’s fifth-floor flat, prompting neighbors to alert security personnel, who attempted to control the fire with an in-house fire tender.
Community Impact
The housing complex has 350 flats, and this was the first reported fire incident there. Ajay had lost his father last year, and his mother had passed away earlier. Jahnavi was a Class 4 student at Queen Mary’s School, Model Town. The police stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire.
