The regional passport office in Ghaziabad issued 355,094 passports in 2025. This is the highest number since the office opened in June 1997, according to officials.
Service Area and Statistics
The Ghaziabad passport office serves applicants from Agra, Aligarh, Baghpat, Bulandshahar, Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hathras, Mathura, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Shamli, and Saharanpur.

In 2019, the office issued 288,039 passports. The number dropped to 109,009 in 2020 due to Covid-19. The figures improved in the following years.
Initiatives and Customer Support
Anuj Swarup, the regional passport officer, stated, “We issued the highest number of passports in 2025 and took up various initiatives to reduce pendency.”
The passport office has set up a grievance redressal cell for customer support. Walk-in services have also been improved.
In November and December 2025, Passport Lok Adalats were held. The regional passport officer met with applicants to address their concerns. Six passport Melas were organized at Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Vrindavan, Agra, Baghpat, Bulandshahar, Meerut, and Noida.
Additional Services
The Ghaziabad passport office has a Passport Seva Kendra in Sahibabad. Eleven other districts, except Shamli, have a POPSK each.
To achieve the high number of passports, the office used a mobile van throughout the year at 14 government organizations and academic institutions. Additional appointments were available on Saturdays at the Passport Seva Kendra and POPSKs. The office was open on 33 Saturdays in 2025 to ensure timely service.
