Gurdas Maan Meets Punjab Governor to Discuss Drug Problem
On Thursday, renowned Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria at Lok Bhavan. They discussed the drug problem in the state.
Gurdas Maan assured the governor of his full support for the campaign and participation in awareness marches.
Governor Kataria, who is also the Chandigarh administrator, emphasized that society has a collective responsibility. He said it is important to protect the younger generation to eliminate the drug menace in Punjab.
According to an official statement, Kataria has led a sustained mass awareness campaign against drugs for the past year. This campaign involves educational institutions, social and religious organizations, NGOs, sportspersons, and other stakeholders.
Kataria highlighted the role of influential personalities in shaping public opinion against drug abuse. He urged Maan to join the campaign and use his popularity to educate youth about staying away from drugs.
Maan reiterated his commitment to this cause. He assured the governor of his full support and participation in awareness marches.
The singer stated that protecting youth from drugs is a shared responsibility. He pledged to contribute to efforts aimed at building a healthy, drug-free Punjab.
To spread awareness about drug abuse, Governor Kataria has personally conducted extensive ‘padyatras’. This includes a six-day walk covering Gurdaspur and Amritsar, and a two-day walk in Jalandhar district.
