ACB Arrests Mandal Education Officer for Alleged Bribery

Officials from the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Mandal Education Officer (MEO) in Paderu, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 on Thursday.

The MEO, Mori John, reportedly demanded the bribe from a retired teacher to process the teacher’s pension proposals to the Accountant General’s office in Vijayawada. The teacher refused to pay the bribe and filed a complaint with ACB officials in Visakhapatnam.

On January 8, ACB officials caught Mori John while he was demanding and accepting the ₹40,000 bribe from the complainant. He was arrested and presented before the Special Judge for ACB cases in Visakhapatnam.

Searches are ongoing at both the residential and office locations of Mori John.

Mori John was selected as a Secondary Grade Teacher in 1990 at Peda Lagudu village in Araku mandal. He has been serving as Head Master (Gazetted) and Full Additional Charge (FAC) Mandal Education Officer in Paderu, Alluri Sitharama Raju District since August 2025.
