BMC Election Overview for T Ward

As the BMC election approaches, mid-day examines T ward, known for its low population density and active civic engagement from residents.

Geographical and Demographic Features

T ward is located at the northernmost limit of Greater Mumbai in the eastern suburbs. It features wide roads and planned residential areas, including Devidayal Layout and Gavde Venze residential scheme. The ward also has several townships, residential high-rises, and industrial areas with pharmaceutical companies. Vihar Lake, situated inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park, is also part of this ward.

Transport and Connectivity

Before the abolition of Octroi, the ward had two checkpoints for city entry. Two major roads run through T ward: one connects Mumbai to cities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) like Thane, Kalyan Dombivli, and Bhiwadi, while the other is the Eastern Express Highway and LBS Road. These roads often cause traffic jams during peak morning and evening hours.

Population and Civic Engagement

T ward has a low population density of 80 people per square kilometer. It also has one of the most balanced male-female ratios among its voters. Residents actively participate in civic matters. In December 2025, residents clashed with unauthorized hawkers in Mulund, causing traffic jams and pedestrian inconvenience.
