Delhi’s Khan Market undergoes Phase-II upgrade by NDMC, featuring granite flooring, drainage improvements, and utility ducts, part of a ₹1.21 crore project
NDMC Begins Phase-II of Khan Market Upgradation
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) started Phase-II of its upgradation project at Khan Market in south Delhi on Saturday.
This project is estimated to cost ₹1.21 crore and is expected to be completed by April 2026, according to NDMC officials.
NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the market’s middle lane. He stated that the road will feature granite flooring and integrated service ducts for civil and electrical utilities.

Chahal added, “M30 grade concrete and granite stone flooring will be done at the entry points to enhance durability and appearance.”
NDMC officials mentioned other ongoing initiatives at the market. These include mechanised wet cleaning during night hours, regular inspections with market associations, and upgraded public toilet facilities. There are also plans to improve parking facilities and traffic management in the area.
This initiative is part of NDMC’s broader redevelopment programme announced in its 2026–27 budget, officials noted.
