Minister K.N. Nehru Inaugurates Omni Bus Stand in Tiruchi

Minister K.N. Nehru inaugurated the omni bus stand at Panjapur in Tiruchi and flagged off bus services on Wednesday.

Infrastructure Projects Update

Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru stated that construction on ongoing infrastructure projects in Tiruchi would be completed and inaugurated by the end of January.

After the inauguration of the omni bus terminal at Panjapur, Mr. Nehru informed the media that construction on the multi-utility facility center, part of the integrated market, and a commercial complex at Puthur is progressing. These projects will be completed by the end of the month, after which the Chief Minister will be asked for their inauguration.

Future Plans for the Bus Terminus

Mr. Nehru mentioned plans to install a BSNL tower at the bus terminus. A proposal is also being considered to open a bus booking center within Tiruchi city limits.

Details of the Omni Bus Stand

The omni bus stand covers about four acres next to the Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT) and cost ₹17.60 crore. Of this amount, ₹8.80 crore came from the State government’s Capital Grant Fund, while the Corporation funded the rest from its General Funds.

The project includes a built-up area of 30,849 sq. ft. and 1,42,945 sq. ft. designated for bus movement. The terminus features three platforms with 58 bus bays: 34 for mobile buses and 24 for waiting buses. This setup ensures smooth bus operations. The facility also includes amenities like a cloakroom, drinking water facilities, separate sanitary complexes, and surveillance cameras.
