Pune’s Abhay Scheme, offering a 75% penalty waiver, has collected ₹49.15 crore in a single day, with three days left for defaulters to clear dues.
PMC Launches Abhay Scheme for Property Tax Defaulters
The Municipal Commissioner announced the ‘Abhay Scheme’. This scheme grants a 75% waiver on penalties and fines for all property tax defaulters in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction. The scheme is effective from 15 November 2025 to 15 January 2026.
Results of the Abhay Scheme
The Tax Assessment and Collection Department worked hard to maximize recovery. On 12 January 2026, PMC recorded a single-day collection of ₹49.15 crore under the Abhay Scheme. The total property tax collection has now reached ₹2,358.10 crore.
| Date | Collection Amount (₹) | Total Collection (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| 12 January 2026 | 49.15 crore | 2,358.10 crore |
| 31 March 2025 | N/A | 2,345.90 crore |
For comparison, the total property tax collected up to 31 March 2025 was ₹2,345.90 crore. Last year’s scheme lasted four months. This year’s Abhay Scheme has shown great results in a shorter time. Before completing two months, PMC collected an additional ₹574.79 crore during the scheme period.
Final Days of the Scheme
With three days left before the scheme ends, PMC urges all remaining defaulters to pay their dues. They can take advantage of the 75% concession on the 2% penalty amount.
To help taxpayers, Citizen Facilitation Centres will stay open from 9:45 am to 6:00 pm. This ensures property owners can complete their payments in the remaining time.
The appeal was made by Ravi Pawar, Deputy Commissioner and Head of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department at Pune Municipal Corporation.
