Pune residents gathered at Kamla Nehru Park for a voter awareness event, demanding better governance, sustainable development, and civic improvements
DGPS Outlines Core Demands for Community Improvement
At the event, DGPS member Baha Tepan presented the group’s main demands. These include safe neighborhoods, a reliable water supply without tanker dependence, clean air, and the protection and expansion of green spaces. The group opposes road projects through hill areas to safeguard the city’s tekdis. They also called for pothole-free roads, pedestrian-friendly footpaths, and protection of residential areas like Deccan from unplanned commercialization without proper infrastructure.
Call for Sustainable Development
DGPS representative Nitin Joshi emphasized the need for balanced and sustainable development. He stated, “Development must be planned and citizen-centric, with safety as its foundation. We want a government that delivers results, remains accountable, and governs responsibly, rather than one driven by empty promises or short-term freebies.”
