Special Roll Observer Kuldip Narayan reviewed SIR 2026 electoral roll revisions in Coimbatore, addressing voter applications and awareness campaigns
Review Meeting on Electoral Rolls–2026 Held in Coimbatore
Special Roll Observer Kuldip Narayan chaired a review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls–2026 at the Coimbatore Collectorate on Sunday. The meeting focused on the progress of voter list revision across the district.
District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, and electoral officers from all 10 Assembly constituencies attended the meeting. They examined the status of draft rolls, deletions, missing entries from the 2002 and 2005 intensive revision lists, and verification through special camps.
Applications Received During Special Camps
During the four special camp days—December 27 and 28, 2025, and January 3 and 4, 2026—election officials received 98,019 applications from voters. These applications were for new enrolment, corrections, and deletions in the electoral rolls. Additionally, 16,953 applications were submitted through the online portal.
Voter Notices and Verification
The observer was informed that notices were issued to about one lakh voters under the “no-mapping” category. This means no elector information was available for them in the 2002 or 2005 SIR exercises. Field verification and direct enquiries will be completed within the next 10 days.
Awareness Programs for Voters
As part of the SIR exercise, awareness programmes were organized for persons with disabilities and transgender voters. This included an awareness rally flagged off by the Special Roll Observer at the Coimbatore Collectorate, along with a signature campaign.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Narayan inspected SIR-related activities at the Mettupalayam municipal office and at R.N. Naidu Higher Secondary School, Periyanaickenpalayam.
