Election Commission Revokes Suspension of IPS Officer Ravjot Kaur Grewal

The Election Commission (EC) has lifted the suspension of senior IPS officer Ravjot Kaur Grewal from the Punjab cadre. Grewal, who is a 2015-batch officer, was serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Tarn Taran. She was suspended in November 2025 due to allegations of violating the Model Code of Conduct during the assembly by-election for the Tarn Taran seat.

Details of Reinstatement

The Election Commission of India directed the suspension of Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal ahead of the bypoll. The reinstatement order was issued after the electoral process was completed and a detailed departmental review of the complaints against her was conducted.

A disciplinary probe is ongoing against Grewal, who has received a chargesheet.

Revocation of Suspension for Maninder Singh

On Thursday, the Punjab government also revoked the suspension of IPS officer Maninder Singh, a 2019 batch officer. His suspension was lifted with immediate effect, just two months after he was placed under suspension while serving as SSP Amritsar Rural.

According to an order from the home department, the suspension imposed on Maninder Singh on November 15, 2025, has been withdrawn by the Governor of Punjab under Rule 3(7)(c) of the All-India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969. He has been directed to report to the DGP, Punjab, immediately, and his posting orders will be issued separately.

Maninder Singh was suspended in November last year due to allegations of administrative lapses and conduct-related issues during his posting. The government did not publicly detail the reasons for his suspension, which received mixed reactions, as he is regarded for his high professional values.
