Mass E-Waste Collection Drive in Madurai

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), along with the Madurai district administration and E Cycle Solutions Private Limited from Chennai, will hold a mass e-waste collection drive. This event is scheduled for January 8 at MADITSSIA Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

According to a statement from the organizers, the initiative aims to engage all sectors of society in the responsible disposal of electronic waste. The collected e-waste will be sent to an authorized waste management agency for safe and scientific recycling or disposal.

The increasing generation of e-waste poses a significant threat to the environment. Improper disposal can release toxic substances like lead, cadmium, mercury, and brominated flame retardants. These substances can harm the environment and human health if not disposed of properly.

The organizers request the public, residential establishments, educational institutions, private organizations, commercial establishments, industries, government departments, and local bodies to participate by handing over their electronic waste during the event.
