Two labourers were killed and two others were severely injured after a speeding truck hit an e-rickshaw on the Bareilly-Pilibhit highway near Rajshree College in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district. This incident occurred amid dense fog on Thursday, according to police reports.
Details of the Incident
The accident took place on the Bareilly-Pilibhit highway close to Rajshree College. Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra confirmed that the truck has been seized. Efforts are ongoing to locate the driver, who has fled the scene.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Salim, 35, from Richhola Kifayatullah village, and Hashim, 35, from Yaseennagar in Nawabganj area. Both died at the scene. Two other occupants of the e-rickshaw, Nasruddin, 36, and Rais Ahmad, also known as Majle, 34, sustained serious injuries.
Medical Response
All four men were daily wage workers traveling to Rithora for work. The police took the injured to a private hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for a post-mortem examination. A further investigation is in progress.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver did not stop after hitting the e-rickshaw, dragging it beneath the heavy vehicle. They noted that road construction work was ongoing at the accident site, increasing the risk during foggy conditions.
