Uttar Pradesh Government Approves Age Relaxation for Police Recruitment
The Yogi Adityanath government has approved a one-time age relaxation of three years for police and prison department recruitment in Uttar Pradesh. This decision benefits many youth preparing for these positions.
This age relaxation applies to the Direct Recruitment–2025 process, which includes 32,679 constable and jail warder posts.
On Monday, the state government issued a government order following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions. The order allows age relaxation for candidates of all categories. This follows the recruitment notification from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) released on December 31, 2025, under Rule 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992.

Applications are open for these 32,679 posts. The online application period runs from December 31, 2025, to January 30, 2026. The last date for application fee payment is January 30, and fee adjustments can be made until February 2, 2026. Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) before applying online.
The recruitment board states that only male candidates can apply for PAC/armed police, special security force, and mounted police posts. Only female candidates can apply for women battalion posts. Both men and women can apply for constable civil police and jail warder positions.
Age Requirements and Relaxations
The age relaxation decision is welcomed by many aspirants. It is seen as a boost for youth affected by recruitment delays. This move shows the state government’s commitment to youth welfare and fair opportunities.

As per the amended recruitment rules, candidates must meet age requirements as of July 1, 2025. Male candidates must be 18 years old but not older than 22. Their birth dates should be between July 2, 2003, and July 1, 2007. Female candidates must be 18 years old but not older than 25. Their birth dates should be between July 2, 2000, and July 1, 2007.
Age relaxation applies mainly to permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh. For reserved categories, male candidates born between July 2, 1998, and July 1, 2007, and female candidates born between July 2, 1995, and July 1, 2007, are eligible.
Special provisions exist for ex-servicemen from Uttar Pradesh. Their length of service will be deducted from their actual age. After this deduction, their age should not exceed the maximum limit by more than three years. Their age should also not be more than 28 years as of July 1, 2025.
UPPRPB officials confirm that the age limits and relaxations follow government orders and recruitment rules, ensuring equal opportunities for candidates affected by recruitment delays.
