Two men were shot in a violent clash fueled by political rivalry in Faridabad’s Deeg village, with three arrested and ongoing raids for others involved
Two Men Injured in Deeg Village Shooting
Two men were injured in a shooting during a group clash in Deeg village, Faridabad, late on Sunday night, according to police reports on Monday.
Details of the Incident
Police arrested three suspects and are conducting raids for others involved. Counter FIRs have been filed, naming over 35 individuals from both sides.
| Injured | Age | Injury Details |
|---|---|---|
| Jagdish Singh (Jaggi Jaat) | 28 | Shot three times in chest, abdomen, and arm |
| Yogender Yadav | 39 | Bullet injury to leg |
Background of the Victims
Jagdish’s condition is critical. Yogender has over 15 criminal cases against him and is a former associate of wanted gangster Neeraj Faridpuria. He is the brother of Jai Singh Yadav, the Deeg sarpanch removed by the Faridabad deputy commissioner after being accused of serious crimes, including attempted murder.
Sequence of Events
The clash started around 10:15 PM in front of a liquor shop. The dispute escalated as both sides called for reinforcements. Jagdish and Yogender arrived with several men to support their groups.
The conflict intensified due to a long-standing rivalry. Jagdish had a feud with the former sarpanch for not supporting him in the 2022 panchayat election. The groups later clashed with rods and sticks, resulting in the shootings.
Aftermath and Police Response
Both injured men were taken to a private hospital in Sector 8, where another clash occurred, causing panic among patients and staff. Heavy police presence was established in the village and hospital to ensure safety.
A senior police official noted that the rivalry between Jai Singh Yadav and his opponents grew after Jai became sarpanch. Tensions remained high even after his removal, leading to a previous clash a month ago.
Community Reactions
A local resident claimed that Jagdish and his men were unarmed. The resident suggested that Yogender may have accidentally shot himself or been shot by his own men, leading to his injury. He stated that Yogender’s group fired at the rival group, resulting in Jagdish’s critical injury.
Arrests and Legal Actions
Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police, confirmed the arrest of three suspects: Ankit Yadav, Mohit Yadav, and Laxman. Raids are ongoing to apprehend a dozen others who are currently at large.
On the complaint of Jagdish’s father, Jeet Singh, an FIR was filed for attempted murder, armed rioting, and causing hurt against Jaibir, Yogender, and 11 others. A counter FIR was also filed against 26 individuals based on Jaibir’s complaint at Ballabgarh Sadar police station on Monday.
