22-Year-Old Woman Accused of Murdering Partner in Greater Noida

A 22-year-old woman is accused of murdering her 47-year-old live-in partner in a high-rise in Greater Noida’s Sector 150. During police interrogation, she stated that a “wet towel” triggered the fatal argument. The victim allegedly taunted her about coming from a “poor nation,” according to investigators on Monday.

Background of the Couple

The couple met at a pub in Gurugram. The accused, Lum Jianna Pamai, was working there before she quit and moved in with Yuh Duck-Hee about a year-and-a-half ago.

Details of the Incident

Pamai, from Khoupum in Manipur, was taken into custody and later presented in a chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court in Gautam Budh Nagar. The court remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody.

The deceased, Yuh Duck-Hee, was a South Korean national from Cheongju-si. He had been living with Pamai at ATS Pious Hideaways for over two years. Yuh had lived in India for the past decade and worked as a branch manager at a logistics firm in Noida’s Sector 142.

Sequence of Events

On Saturday night, the couple returned to their flat after shopping and dining. They consumed alcohol before going to bed. Between 2am and 3am, Pamai went to take a bath. When Yuh entered the bathroom, he found his towel wet from her use. Pamai claimed Yuh, allegedly intoxicated, began arguing with her over the towel.

Allegations of Abuse

During the argument, Yuh allegedly made derogatory remarks about her country. Pamai said such comments had upset her before. Investigators stated that the confrontation turned physical. Pamai claimed she tried to leave, but Yuh picked up a knife to stop her. In the struggle, she took the knife and stabbed him in the chest.

Aftermath of the Incident

After Yuh collapsed, Pamai called his driver, Gopal, and rushed him to a hospital in Greater Noida, where he was declared dead. She later took him to another private facility before accepting his death.

Pamai told police she had left Yuh multiple times due to physical violence but returned each time. She alleged that Yuh often humiliated her by calling her country poor and unclean.

Legal Proceedings

On the complaint of the driver, a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was filed at Knowledge Park police station. Sudhir Kumar, additional deputy commissioner of police, Greater Noida, stated that she was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.

Family Notification and Repatriation

Yuh’s family was informed through the South Korean embassy. His post-mortem was conducted on Monday in the presence of embassy officials. His body has been handed over for repatriation to South Korea for the last rites.
